Six Martini Glasses

Two Large Saucers or Salad Plates

One Pretty Pitcher ~ 48 Ounce Capacity

One Jar (3.25 ounces) of Colored Course Sugar

18 ounces Vodka

16 ounces Espresso

One Jar of Pigtale Twist Buttery Caramel Sauce



Place the clean kitchen towel on the cookie sheet smoothing it well so all areas are level. Pour two ounces vodka onto one of the saucers and the jar of colored sugar onto the other. Dip the rim of each glass into the Vodka and then into the sugar. I like to jiggle the sugar saucer after each rim to keep the sugar in a level layer. Stand each finished glass upright on the cookie sheet with the towel. The towel simply keeps the glasses from slipping in transit to the freezer. Slide the tray into the freezer or, if there is not enough room, the cold holiday air provides perfect refrigeration in most garages.


Warm Pigtale Twist Buttery Caramel Sauce (lid removed) in your microwave for 45 second just to loosen it up a bit. Pour the 16 ounce jar into the pitcher then refill the jar with 16 ounces of Vodka and then again with 16 ounces of Espresso. Add a very generous splash of good vanilla (Nielsen Massey works very well & it is a family owned company from Chicago). Whisk vigorously until well-blended (2-3 minutes). Chill. These may be made up to a week in advance.


Nothing gets in the way of our Carameltinis! We use red, white & blue sugar on the rims during the fireworks on the 4th, orange, brown & yellow sugar to serve with the pumpkin pie after Thanksgiving Dinner, silver & gold on New Year’s Eve when the ball drops, hot pink & red for a romantic, candlelit dinner on Valentine’s Day etc. These sugars are found most reasonably at Michael’s Craft Stores in the Wilton Bakeware aisle but are also available at shops such as Williams Sonoma or Someone’s in the Kitchen.


Now that your glasses are ice cold & twinkling festively, and your Carameltinis are smooth as silk and perfectly chilled, all that’s left is lighting the fire and enjoying your friends and family.
